How to keep a long lasting Shellac Manicure

What is Shellac Nails?

Shellac is a brand owned by CND. Its the official brand name, not the treatment. The treatment is a gel polish long lasting manicure. Its made to have 14 day wear, a two week manicure. There is a brand called Vinylux which is also owned by CND which makes the matching colours in normal nail varnishes. You can have these for your toes or to purchase to have at home.

What happens in your appointment?

During your manicure, you therapist will prep your nails by filing and tidying the cuticles. Your nails will be temporarily dehydrated with a primer, then the base coat, colour coats and top coats applied, cured in between each layer, in a LED or UV lamp. You will be advised to re book for two weeks time.

Its best to not leave them on too long as you will get damaged nails underneath the shellac. You will also risk your nails getting too long and breaking low down.

At home, use regular Solar Oil on your nails daily. We advise Solar oil rather than any other oil as the molecules in Solar oil are small enough to reach through the Shellac polish to hydrate your nail bed.

Other Brands

There are other brands of gel polish, and some salons or companies will call it Shellac. Its not the Official CND Shellac brand they will be using unless you see them using this bottle. There is also an option for a salon to be a CND Shellac Certified Salon using the logo below. Nail Art
